Mental Health Awareness Month!

You matter…and that goes along with your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. The body and the brain work together and when you ignore one, the other or both, when events seem to bombard you and you can’t catch your breath, or when life seems unmanageable, things start to slow, feel overwhelming, or inevitably begin to break down. It can be difficult to prioritize your mental health, not only due to external resources in finding care, but also in allocating your own resources to care for yourself in this way.

The care you choose can be both dependent on your personality and your resources. There is no right or wrong way, just a right way for you and what fits now. That doesn’t mean it will be comfortable, but it should be manageable. And that’s the whole point…because bottom line if you don’t manage it now, at some point in time, the decision will be out of your control.

Remember, mental health can be individual, group, or with support…it can include journaling, drawing, walking, noticing ,moving…it can be engaged by talking, thinking, reflecting…it can involve systems, plans, and approaches…but regardless of how it’s approached, you are the most integral part. It’s worth mentioning again…you matter and so do all the components of your health and what makes you the person you are, the person you were, and the person you are becoming.
