What You Carry & What You Keep

We all carry things and many of us have not had the ability to choose what happened to us, how it happened, or the way in which we feel about it for all sorts of reasons. We do, however, have a say and decision making in what we choose to bring into today. The start to that process is by looking at what is weighing you down; the burden of emotions, events, and roles you fill.
Our brains can tell us that it is far easier and much more comfortable to avoid this and use distractions to do so. However, this only delays what is brewing under the surface and the weight of it often feels heavier in the long run. Support to guide you and challenge you in a safe way can mean the difference between continued avoidance and real decision making.
This is especially true for caregivers who often deal with an out-of-balance amount of giving to receiving. Just as it’s important for you to be in alignment with your value system and carry or help people in your life, it’s just as vital for you to be able to reach out for support and allow others to carry you.
Bottom line…balance isn’t always even, but when the burden becomes too heavy and we ignore it, it is only a matter of time before that becomes unsustainable. We encourage you to be brave about that; you don’t have to carry it alone.
